About UsIN BUSINESS SINCE 1945
Welcome to Alexander Buchan & Son Funeral Directors,
We are a family run Independent business in Aberdeenshire. We are Aberdeenshire’s oldest Funeral Directors and recently celebrated 75 years.
We have been trusted to care since 1945, when the business was opened by Alexander Buchan (Zander) and has since become a well-established business dedicated to helping you and your family in your time of need.
Ian Buchan took over the firm in 1996 from his father (John Mull) and grandfather Zander and in 2010 decided to open a second funeral home In Mintlaw, Buchan Funeral Directors.
Ian’s two sons, Alexander and Stuart also work in the family business making us proud to be in our 4th generation.
Here in Denmark Street, Fraserburgh our Chapel has seen many changes over the years, the most recent extension and refurb was in 2018. The chapel now seats over 300 mourners making it one of the largest in the country and most recently won an award for best premises in Scotland.
We took our time to create a modern, spacious, calming Chapel where you can have a service of your choice, religious or non-religious.
Our premises is Wheelchair Accessible, includes a private Family Room for mourners to sit before the service, toilets and a music system that can play any CD or Bluetooth requests made by the family.
We also have contacts for live stream and slide show services if requested.
Private Rest RoomsNo appointment necessary
When you use our services, you are provided with a key for our rest rooms, giving you access anytime of the day or night to see your loved one.
A lot of Funeral directors not just in Scotland but across the UK are viewing by appointment only and some even charge you per visit. We don’t believe in this and we feel this makes us unique, as our company believes in giving you as much time needed before the funeral.
Both our restrooms in Fraserburgh and Mintlaw have parking, wheelchair access and toilets.
